Girls play netball through the Spring term, with some preseason Wednesday matches and training taking place in the Autumn term. Block fixtures are played on Saturday mornings both indoor in our heated sports hall or outdoor on our New Field or Oak Drive sites, where we have an additional six courts and match tea facilities.
We have achieved good success with netball over the last number of years reaching national finals. This has been helped by a number of talented individuals who have gained representative honours. Furthermore, players regularly feature in North Wales regional squads or hubs. The 1st VII captain is a much sought after position and is considered a significant responsibility to hold.
Rydal Penrhos plays matches on a weekly basis against other independent schools across Cheshire, Lancashire and Shropshire, which ensures our teams are suitably challenged. We also take part in national competitions, giving us the opportunity to play different teams.
The school tours on a biannual basis to Ireland and has also travelled to Australia several times, which is always an exciting and challenging trip for pupils. Head of Netball Nicky Head leads coaching across the school, assisted by other experienced games staff.
