Trip to the theatre for Drama pupils
GCSE and A-Level Drama pupils travelled to Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre to see the play ‘Mogasdishu’ on Wednesday 1 February.
Written by former teacher Vivienne Franzmann the play is a hard hitting story based at an inner city secondary school. The play focuses on white teacher Amanda who is pushed to the ground by black student Jason. Amanda decides not to report Jason as she knows that an exclusion from school would condemn him to a future as troubled as his past. However, Jason concocts a web of lies which sees him accuse Amanda of racism which affects her career and relationships.
The play won the George Devine Award 2010 and has been nominated for Best New Play at the Theatre Awards UK and is now touring the UK.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the play and thanks go to Miss Cunnah for the photo of the group outside the theatre.
