Swimmers triumphant at Urdd Gala
Pupils from Rydal Penrhos travelled to Cardiff on Sunday (29 January 2012) to take part in the Urdd National Swimming Gala. Roy Sterling swam incredibly well earning himself a Gold medal for the individual breaststroke as well as a Bronze medal in the individual backstroke.
Roy was also part of the hugely successful Senior Relay Team, and along with Tom Harding, Henry Salisbury and Pavel Nevmovenko secured a Gold medal in a thrilling Freestyle Relay and a Silver medal in the Medley Relay.
The Year 9 & 10 Boys Freestyle Relay team of Dylan Coombes, Max Copeland, Adam Zeitoun and Will Murphy secured 2nd place and a Silver medal in the Freestyle Relay and finished in 4th place in the Medley Relay.
Louis Coombes secured a place in the individual backstroke finals, while his brother Dylan finished in 5th place in the Individual Freestyle and 7th in Individual Backstroke.
The Girls of Rydal Penrhos were represented by the Year 9 & 10 Relay team which comprised of Hannah Cashell, Jemelia Bentouriand and Sophie Davies. The team swam well however, they were beaten by stiff opposition on the day.
