Netball teams welcome Birkenhead School
Saturday 21 January saw the U15, U14, U13 and U12 netball teams welcome Birkenhead School. Despite the howling winds, the games went ahead at New Field.
U15 Netball v Birkenhead School (home)
For the U15 team the challenge of game was to ensure that they played with controlled, safe passes while creating space down the court. With some fantastic defensive skills by Elizabeth Richards, superb intercepts by Annabelle Harrison and impressive shooting by captain Seren Roberts the girls were able to secure their first win of the season, with a final score of 5-1.
U14 Netball v Birkenhead School (home)
The Rydal Penrhos team struggled with the speed and effectiveness of Birkenhead School’s players to go 5-1 down in the first quarter. In the second quarter the U14s slowed their game, became much more effective and managed to score. However the accurate shooting and advanced defending of the Birkenhead team saw them also scoring in this quarter and going on to dominate the last two quarters and win 23-5.
U13 Netball v Birkenhead School (home)
The U13 team started strongly, with only a one goal deficit at the end of the first quarter. Despite the impressive defensive effort throughout the court by Rydal Penrhos, the shooters of the Birkenhead School side played a strong game and they began to pull away. The final score was 17-4.
U12 Netball v Birkenhead School (home)
The U12s continued to show their determination and played well despite a defeat.
