Football squad start season with good performances

1st XI v The New Saints (TNS)

The first match of the season saw the team travel to Oswestry to play the Academy side of Welsh Champions – with Champions League experience!

The game was very fast and skilful with lots of one touch football. It was a great experience to see what a professional set up was like and to play against boys on professional contracts.

Rydal Penrhos conceded an early goal when concentration was lost, however the 1st XI had many shots and increased possession as the game went on. Rydal Penrhos player Osian Parry Jones troubled TNS’ keeper on numerous occasions, while goalkeeper Oleg Lemets made many saves.

Despite the final score of 3-0 to TNS, the Rydal Penrhos team deserves credit for the score, as the TNS team beat Prestatyn Town 9-0 the previous week.

Man of the match – It is impossible to distinguish between Harrison Holmes and Marinus Kolbinger as full backs

A very long journey made worse by the traffic on the A55, saw the 2nd XI take on Stonyhurst College.
