Pupils take on the Senior Maths Team Challenge
Four of our best mathematicians in the Sixth form took part in the Senior Maths Team Challenge last week.
Held at Christleton High School near Chester, the team of Tom Warrington, Michelle Tan, Laura Nunez-Mulder and Nikita Bogatyrev entered into the spirit of the occasion and were soon pitting their wits against thirteen other teams from schools in the area.
The final round – a mini-relay – sorted the order of the schools, with many losing bonus marks left, right and centre.
Good humour was present within the team right to the end when they were working against the clock. A very creditable 6th position out of 14 was achieved in the final tallying-up of scores.
Mrs Mottershead would like to congratulate the team on their excellent approach to the challenge.
Meanwhile, congratulations also need to go Sebastian Schmidt who achieved a Gold award, as well as the title of ‘Best in School’ at the Junior Maths Challenge held recently. Rydal Penrhos secured 4 Bronze, 3 Silver and one Gold in total.
