Bestselling author visits Rydal Penrhos School
The normally quiet Library was filled with the sound of laughter as the bestselling author of Buddy and Collision Course Nigel Hinton visited Rydal Penrhos School this week.
Nigel entertained pupils from Years 7 and 8 with stories about his life and how he began his writing career as a result of a dare!
During the lively and energetic talk, Nigel explained how ideas for books can pop into his head when he’s least expecting them, with one particular opening sentence coming to him at a set of traffic lights. He went on to explain how he uses his real life experiences to help write, leading to a number of hilarious stories from his childhood and how those memories feature in his books.
The session finished with pupils quizzing Nigel about his impressive career as an author, TV and film script writer and songwriter.
Rydal Penrhos School regularly receives guest speakers and authors who provide a wonderful accompaniment to pupils’ studies and promote the enjoyment of literature while also inspiring the pupils themselves to write.
