Rydal Penrhos and Colwyn Choral Society raise money for RNLI

To mark the 150th anniversary of service at sea, Rydal Penrhos School and Colwyn Choral Society joined forces to raise funds for the RNLI at a special musical concert. The sea is close to Rydal Penrhos School’s heart, with sailing and powerboat courses being part of the sports curriculum.

Happily, £761 was raised for the RNLI, a much loved charity in the North Wales region.

Representatives from Rydal Penrhos and Colwyn Choral Society were recently invited to Llandudno to step on board a lifeboat and present the cheque to Lifeboat Operations Manager, Marcus Elliott. The Llandudno branch is currently raising funds to purchase a new 25 knot lifeboat, which will have a 5o year life-span and will cover a larger geographical area.

The RNLI relies solely on legacies and donations and has been serving the local community since 1861, when the 1st lifeboat was launched in Llandudno. There are 235 stations around the UK and around 4500 volunteer crew members.
