Roy swims for Britain
Talented local swimmer, Roy Sterling, is competing for his country in UK events.Having become the Welsh National breast stroke champion (15/16 yrs) last April, Roy was selected to represent Wales in the UK School Games. This is a prestigious event in which 1 600 elite athletes are chosen to compete in a variety of events including swimming. Although Roy, aged 15, was swimming in the 15/16 yr category, he achieved a 6th place and two personal best times.
In addition, Roy qualified for the British Youth National Championships this summer, where he swam a personal best time and has also been selected for the British Youth National Championships as part of the Welsh team, which will be held in Sheffield on October 16th.
Roy is currently ranked no 1 for 100/200m breast stroke (15/16 yrs) in Wales and has achieved a position in the top 10 rankings in Britain.
