Junior cricket results against St Anselm’s
On a difficult wicket the under 12s batted first and scored 83, with Sam Merrick and Daniel Philips being the team’s mian run scorers off 20 overs. In reply, the home team passed the total for the loss of 4 wickets to win by 6, with Louis Peterson taking 2 for 27.
The under 14s batted first, and thanks to a stand of 105 between Sean Kitchen 62 and Tom Harding 56, the team reached 179 for 9 in their 25 overs. In reply, the result was by no means guaranteed – with their key batsman chipping away until almost the 20th over when the the score was on 140. With 24 needed off the final over, Rob Ellerby bowled very well to allow them only 7, resulting in a win by 15 runs.
At home, the under 15s restricted the visitors to 108, with Ashley Jones taking 3 wickets. Only Joe Maguire with 24, made any real challenge to the opposition total – the team being dismissed for 51.
In the under 13 game, Anslem’s batted first and scored 143, with Robert Warrington; bowling off spin took 3 for 24, and Morgan Jones 3 for 14. In reply, harvery Holmes scored a valuable 44, Tom Ashby 10 and Rob Warrington 14, were the main run scorers, but the team fel 19 short of the runs required.
