Pupils scoop top awards at Chester Drama Festival
On Saturday 29th March 2010, Miss Bloomfield took 27 of our Speech and Drama students to perform at Chester Drama Festival, which was held at Queen’s Park High School, Chester. Miss Campbell came along to support the pupils.
The standard this year was exceptionally high and we battled for places against the usual schools involved, including: Moreton Hall, Howell’s, Wrekin, Queen’s and The King’s School.
The six adjudicators, all either examiners from leading Drama schools or recognisable faces from screen or stage, gave very constructive criticism and advice on how to improve pieces for the LAMDA examinations in June.
The day was great fun and we were very impressed by the team spirit shown amongst our pupils. They took part in improvisations, devised drama, solo acting, duologues, poetry recitals and prepared readings, many winning 1st and 2nd prizes, as well as merits and commendations.
Those who competed were: WIll Lunt (year 13), in years 9 & 10 Sravya Bathula, Laurie Brummitt, Matt Grosart, Andrew McDonald, Alex Bickerton, Lucy Xie, Alannah Jack, Imogen Long, Jack Parry, Sion Morris, Will Turner, Louis Davies, Nandan Mathukumar, in year 8 John Marston, Kashmala Kahn-Rehman, James Kennedy, Alex Azurza, Barnaby Race, and in year 7 Scarlett Salisbury, Anjalina Mitra, James Sanders, Seb Schmidt, Sasha Handley and Elinor Honeybun.
