Welsh ยป Courses
As part of learning the language we try also to incorporate some Welsh Culture into the programme. The main course that is catered for is Welsh as a Second Language; however we do have pupils who are about to complete a GCSE exam in First Language Welsh this year. The first person who completed an O level in Welsh as a Second Language was in fact the Right Honourable Dafydd Wigley (1956-1961), and the department was delighted when two of its Welsh pupils wrote a letter inviting Mr Wigley to search for any old school books that he may wish to donate to the school. We hope to invite Mr Wigley to the school in the future.
Pupils’ lessons are taught privately at GCSE level. Welsh as a Second Language is available at A-level, also taught privately. Please contact the school for syllabus information. Julian Noad, Deputy Head (Academic), can be contacted at JPNoad@rydal-penrhos.com
