Physical Education ยป Courses
We currently offer Physical Education at three levels of study: GCSE, AS level and A-level.
The GCSE course looks at basic anatomy and physiology, physical fitness, and nutrition. There is a practical component that examines technical prowess in four activties taken from a range of activties.
At AS and A-level, the focus is on sporting performance and the historical and sociological influences that have shaped the structure of sport both in the UK and abroad. The practical component involves pupils undertaking the role of coach/umpire/performer. At AS level the candidates choose two of these roles and at A-level they focus on just one. In the near future, the school hopes to offer the IB Sports Science as an option for Group 4.
Many of our pupils move on to university to study various aspects of physical education. In recent years our pupils have enrolled on courses such as Sports Science, Physiotherapy, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Therapy, and coaching and teaching courses.
Please consult the ‘Sports’ section of the website for more information about the activities we offer, fixtures, latest news, results and directions to away games.
